In the great tradition of horror movies she’s the first one to drink the water and get the virus. They are:īlonde: Exists to be blonde and attractive and cry a lot. There are five teenagers who are the “stars” of this movie. It’s a shame, because some really campy and over-the-top acting would have definitely improved the movie. Also, aside from the female police officer, nobody seems to realise what movie they’re in and all attempt to play their roles completely seriously. Every single actor looks like they don’t want to be there and also look too old to play teenagers. Along the way they are also hunted by the locals, who want to stop the disease from spreading.Ĭharacters/acting: There are no winners here in terms of acting. After setting him on fire, they discover that there is a flesh-eating virus in the water and one by one the teens succumb to it, dying in various gruesome ways. After some encounters with the strange locals, a random man comes to their cabin obviously suffering from a terrible disease. Plot: Five incredibly stupid teenagers head to a cabin in the woods to relax, swim, connect with nature, smoke weed, have sex, shoot guns and generally act like hormonal idiots. I will include some facts and notes I found about the original, but I’ll save them for later. I will be judging this movie on its own merits. So for this review, please be aware that I haven’t seen the original 2002 version, so I won’t be able to compare the two movies. What little hope I had for this movie quickly died a short and painful death, while my brain brought back awful memories of watching Gus Van Sant’s pointless and terrible shot-for-shot remake of ‘Psycho’. ![]() This was a 2016 shot-for-shot remake, which even used the same script as the original. Then I looked more closely at what movie I was watching and realised that this wasn’t Eli Roth’s 2002 ‘Cabin Fever’. I remembered hearing about that movie back when it was released in 2002 and reading some mixed reviews, but there were definitely fans of it out there so I was curious to watch it and see what I thought. But boy do I wish I’d chosen to watch that rather than this film.Ī little clarification: Conor and I were looking for a bad movie to watch on Netflix and we came across ‘Cabin Fever’. Ok, no, I don’t mean the song from ‘Muppet Treasure Island’.
